Activity 7

Activity 7: Harvest

Craft: Make corn on the cob crafts by taking green and yellow paper and cutting both of the papers into ovals, make the yellow oval slightly smaller than the green oval. Then glue the yellow oval on top of the green oval. Finally take finger paints of your color choice and with your fingers decorate your yellow oval until it starts looking like a corn cob in a husk.

Lesson: Tell your kid that at this time of year people call it harvest because it is when farmers harvest or pick their crops. Say that a squash is a vegetable then have your kid try to name other vegetables and fruits that we harvest at this time of year.

Talk Together: Ask your kid what their favorite fruit or vegetable is? Would you like to be a farmer when you grow up or have a garden?

Activity: Take a couple bean seeds or pea seeds and put them in a plastic bag with moist paper towels or cotton balls, then put it in a little bit of water [ about a centimeter.] Finally put the bag in a sunny spot and watch it grow.
